Congratulations! I would like to extend an invitation for you for membership in the Alpha Rho Mu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Lone Star College-Tomball. Membership in Phi Theta Kappa, the prestigious international honor society of two-year college students, is by invitation only and is based on a minimum 3.5 GPA, calculated from a minimum of 12 college-level completed and transferable academic hours, and current enrollment in 3 credit hours at LSC-Tomball.
You have already earned the honor of being a Phi Theta Kappan by fulfilling the requirements for membership. Although joining the society is not a commitment to active participation, membership provides numerous opportunities for developing leadership skills, participating in a variety of community and college service projects, and building lifelong relationships with other Phi Theta Kappa members.
The benefits of membership are numerous. You will be eligible for over $90 million in scholarships; in fact, many of Lone Star College-Tomball’s senior transfer institutions, such as Sam Houston State University and the University of Houston, offer some scholarships exclusively to Phi Theta Kappans. Another important benefit for graduating students is that a notation of membership is placed on your transcript upon graduation, giving you an edge over other students seeking admission to competitive universities and programs. Membership also brings with it the privilege of wearing the Honors Stole and Tassel at graduation and the placement of the Phi Theta Kappa seal on your diploma
You should have already received an electronic invitation in your myLoneStar account to accept membership from our Phi Theta Kappa Chapter advisors with additional details. Please log onto www.ptk.org and use your college’s email address to accept membership.
Again, as president of Lone Star College-Tomball and a proud member of the Alpha Rho Mu Chapter myself, I extend my congratulations to you for receiving this invitation. I hope you will take advantage of this valuable and rewarding opportunity.
If you need more information, please contact one of the chapter’s advisors, Prof. Nathan Fortenbury at Nathan.L.Fortenbury@LoneStar.edu or Prof. Laura Dupree at Laura.Dupree@LoneStar.edu.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
Lee Ann Nutt, Ed.D.
